Job summary

Jobtailor in Maryland seeks a Senior Systems Administrator to manage Linux and Windows servers, enforce security hardening, and coordinate patching and vulnerability remediation. The role includes administering a web-based information platform, configuring AD, and supporting distributed environments with occasional travel.

Ideal candidates will have extensive experience with DISA/high-assurance environments, TS/SCI clearance, and strong scripting skills in Python and SALT.

Requirements

• Substantial experience as a systems administrator supporting large groups of end users and technical staff
• At least 5 years of hands‑on experience supporting Linux and Microsoft-based servers and workstations
• At least 5 years of hands‑on experience with operating system and application hardening, including DISA, best practices, and high‑assurance environments
• At least 5 years of hands‑on experience with software and hardware deployment, patch management, operating systems, and system backup and restore functions
• Proficiency with Windows Server 2016, 2019, and Active Directory
• Ability to travel, including local area travel and occasional 1–2 week CONUS and OCONUS trips annually
• U.S. Citizenship required
• TS/SCI Security Clearance with an appropriate Polygraph required
• Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related technical field and at least 8 years of relevant experience
• Preferred: Experience building, configuring, and maintaining large, distributed Trellix ePO environments
• Preferred: Strong scripting experience with SALT and Python
• Preferred: Hands‑on experience with Red Hat 7/8, VMware, Apache Tomcat, IIS, SQL Server, and KVMs
• Preferred: Experience supporting security accreditation and certification, advanced security protocols, and network security technologies, including PKI, SSP, multi‑domain environments, and vulnerability assessment
• Preferred: Experience with client and server virtualization, hardware installation and troubleshooting, system optimization, disk arrays, PowerShell, PowerCLI, HSMs, and NTP
• Preferred: Solid understanding of information security principles, software security, and security architecture
