Job summary

KBR in El Segundo, CA is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our MILSATCOM Systems Engineering team. The role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance and involves supporting Space Force programs and government safety activities.

You will collaborate with government civilians, prime contractors, and other team members to evaluate ESOH risks, prepare safety documents, and contribute to Space Flight Worthiness certification across space and ground systems.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• 4+ years’ experience in systems engineering.
• 1+ years’ experience in Systems Safety engineering and related standards.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for stakeholder coordination.

Responsibilities

• Support ESOH risk evaluation and safety documentation for Space Flight Worthiness certification.
• Document and implement changes to Government System Safety documents.
• Review contractor documentation and hazard analyses, advising the government team.
• Perform safety risk assessments per MSEIT/Space Force guidance and prepare acceptance or mitigation plans.
• Prepare PESHE, SDAR/EOLP, and Environmental Analysis documents for space vehicles and ground systems.
• Support System Safety elements of Space Flight Worthiness certification.
• Collaborate with prime contractors, other contractors, government civilians, and US Space Force members.
