Job summary

KBR in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join the MILSATCOM SE&I team, supporting Space Force space and ground systems. You will evaluate ESOH risks, prepare required safety documentation, and collaborate with government and contractor teams to drive safety and certification efforts.

The role requires a Secret clearance, a technical bachelor's degree, and 4+ years in systems engineering with 1+ years in Systems Safety engineering. Onsite in El Segundo with minimal travel.

Qualifications

• Ability to obtain Secret clearance.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field.
• 4+ years in systems engineering.
• 1+ years in systems safety engineering with relevant standards.
• Coordinate with diverse stakeholders in a dynamic team.
• Strong written and verbal communication; public speaking.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate ESOH risks and prepare safety documentation for Space Flight Worthiness.
• Document and implement changes to Government System Safety documents.
• Review contractor docs for hazard analyses, mitigation, and safety assessments.
• Perform safety risk assessments per program guidance and acceptances.
• Prepare PESHE, SDAR/EOLP, and Environmental Analysis for ground/space systems.
• Support System Safety elements of space vehicle certification.
• Collaborate with prime contractors, government civilians, and US Space Force.
