Job summary

KBR’s ESS Ground Systems team in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Senior Ground Systems Integration Engineer to lead on-site integration of satellite communications systems and ground segments. You will coordinate with SE&I teams, contractors, and government civilians to drive technical discussions and resolve issues across multiple programs.

The role demands 15+ years in systems engineering/architecture for aerospace or defense, active Secret clearance, and hands-on experience with MILSATCOM

Qualifications

• Active Secret clearance required with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical discipline.
• 15+ years experience in systems engineering, integration, or architecture development for complex aerospace, defense, or space systems.
• Experience with MILSATCOM, such as AEHF, PTS, EPS, WGS, and FAB‑T terminal programs.
• Experience working with military and DoD civilians.
• Demonstrated experience integrating Space and Ground segments within national security space, military satellite communications, or related space programs.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).

Responsibilities

• Lead ground systems engineering and integration activities to develop ESS ground architectures and engineering processes.
• Analyze system requirements and verify the technical baseline.
• Apply Digital Engineering methods (MBSE, Digital Twins, digital threads) for ground architectures and performance verification.
• Collaborate with Government and contractor teams to resolve gaps and interface issues; support reviews and forums.
• Lead Government/Contractor Working Group meetings and write minutes to address risks and actions.
• Review changes to the technical baseline for impact on enterprise and cross‑stakeholder integration.
• Conduct trade studies and assessments; evaluate cost, schedule, and performance impacts.
• Facilitate program documentation reviews and provide technical comments and resolutions.
• Act as SME to brief Space Force program office and other stakeholders; propose actions for Government decisions.
• Support risk management and action plans with Government in executing solutions.
