Job summary

Nebraska Public Power District is seeking a System Protection Engineer I–IV at the Columbus General Office in Columbus, Nebraska. The role supports operations, analyzes system performance, and coordinates protection configurations to improve reliability.

Position requires a BSEE from an ABET-accredited school or a PE license with an equivalent degree; EIT/FE exam is expected for progression. Travel up to 25% may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited college/university is required or PE license with a non-ABET degree is required.
• Entry level to senior levels (I–IV) progressions are defined and approved by management.
• License exams (EIT/FE) and professional credentials support advanced practice.

Responsibilities

• Support operations and maintenance, analyze system performance and restore reliability.
• Evaluate proposed protection configurations and relay settings.
• Develop trip-checking procedures and analyze fault currents.
• Coordinate maintenance and project activities within engineering teams.
