Job summary

Duke Energy is hiring a System Operations Trainer to develop and deliver competency-based training for Bulk Electric System Operators. You will design materials, run simulations, and assess learning outcomes using established training programs and industry guidelines.

The role involves collaborating with the SysOps training organization to keep training current, addressing real-time emergencies, and ensuring operators maintain compliance with NERC and FERC requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires a technical degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience in training and development using systematic approaches.
• NERC standards and operator certification knowledge expected.

Responsibilities

• Oversee training and development of Bulk Electric System Operators.
• Develop and evaluate training materials and simulation-based learning.
• Coordinate with SysOps trainers to update training practices.
• Document operator training and continuing education hours.
• Ensure learning integrity under NERC and FERC guidelines.

Education

Technical degree

Two years related work experience

High School/GED with 4 years related work experience

Four years related work experience (Senior)
