Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking a Systems Operations Engineer to support the Duke Energy Progress Energy Control Center and NERC reliability functions. The role involves developing reliability assessments and operational studies, ensuring compliance with FERC and NERC standards, and collaborating with multiple stakeholders across the transmission system.

The ideal candidate holds an ABET-accredited engineering degree, with preferred qualifications including a master's in electrical engineering and NERC

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from ABET-accredited program.
  • Master's degree in Engineering will be considered in lieu of the B.S. Engineering degree.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Perform operational planning studies and reliability assessments with Systems Operations and Transmission Planning teams.
  • Develop real-time operations solutions for the transmission system and re-dispatch to manage loading concerns.
  • Support resolution of operating issues with generation entities, neighboring systems and load-serving entities.
  • Participate in pre/post-operating assessments of system performance and provide emergency support during storms.
