Job summary

Duke Energy seeks an Associate System Operator trainee to monitor bulk electric system metrics and develop the credentials needed within the System Operator Qualification Program (SOQP). The role supports supervision while advancing toward NERC certification and ongoing task verification.

Initial assignments involve working under a System Operator I or higher, gaining practical console experience, and completing the required 24x7 shift training and credentialing process.

Qualifications

• Technical degree required; in lieu of degree, 2 years related experience with HS/GED.
• NERC System Operator Certification is preferred, regional/local operator certification is a plus.
• Willingness to work 24x7 rotating shifts and to complete required training and credentials.

Responsibilities

• Obtain job task verification and improve knowledge, skills and performance.
• Prepare for and pass the NERC system operator certification examination with supervision.
• Complete all training requirements including ERO standards and regional certifications.
