Job summary

Cisco Systems is seeking a System Level Test Engineer for the San Jose, CA office to validate next-generation networking platforms, including switches, routers, and data center systems. You will drive end-to-end system validation across hardware, firmware, and software stacks, and develop automated tests with CI/CD to ensure performance, reliability, and scalability under real-world conditions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or CS.
2+ years in system validation, networking tests, or hardware/software integration.
Strong networking knowledge (TCP/IP, routing, switching).
Experience with Linux and debugging tools.
Programming/scripting in Python, C/C++ or similar.
Hands-on system-level debugging and validation.

Responsibilities

Define and execute system-level validation strategies for complex networking platforms.
Validate end-to-end functionality across hardware, OS, and networking software stacks.
Develop automated test frameworks and integrate tests into CI/CD.
Design tests for throughput, latency, and scale under real-world conditions.
Perform root cause analysis using logs, traces, and lab instrumentation.
Collaborate with ASIC, hardware, software, and architecture teams.
