Job summary

GEM Technologies, Inc. in Oak Ridge, TN, seeks a System Engineer to support the DOE's Y-12 National Security Complex. The role is full-time and based at the site, with responsibilities spanning configuration management, system health assessment, and operability maintenance.

You will work with cross-disciplinary teams to evaluate design changes, perform walkdowns, and ensure safety basis compliance, contributing to critical national security missions.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering/Physical Science from a US ABET-accredited program.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in system engineering.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance.
• Experience with configuration management and design change packages.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate configuration management activities.
• Assess system health and performance.
• Provide technical responsibility for plant system operability and maintenance.
• Prepare configuration control packages for tasks.
• Evaluate the impact of proposed changes on safety authorization bases.
• Perform troubleshooting and system improvements.
• Review calibration, equipment tests/inspections, spare parts evaluations, and turnover to owner support.
• Perform system walkdowns and field evaluations.
