Job summary

GEM Technologies, Inc. (GEM) is seeking a System Engineer to join our team supporting the DOE’s Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, TN. The role is full-time and requires U.S.

citizenship with ability to obtain a government clearance if needed. Responsibilities include coordinating configuration management, assessing system health, and ensuring operability and maintenance across plant systems. Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering/Physical Science from ABET-accredited program in the United States with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• U.S. citizenship due to federal nature of the work.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance if needed.
• Experience with system engineering, configuration management, and configuration control.
• Ability to assess system health, performance, reliability, and operability.
• Experience developing and reviewing design change/configuration control packages.
• Knowledge of safety authorization basis requirements and evaluation of proposed system modifications.
• Experience with plant system troubleshooting, technical assessments, and system improvements.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures, and technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate configuration management activities.
• Assess system health and performance.
• Provide technical responsibility for plant system operability and maintenance.
• Work with the Configuration Management program for assigned systems.
• Prepare configuration control/design change packages.
• Evaluate impact of proposed changes to safety bases.
• Perform troubleshooting and improvement activities.
• Apply systems and equipment expertise to resolve issues with other disciplines.
• Perform system walkdowns.
• Review calibration and equipment test/inspection determinations, spare parts evaluations, and system turnover.
