Onyx Point, Inc. is seeking a Senior Linux Engineer to lead Linux administration, automation, and systems integration. The role requires extensive SE experience, with a focus on hardware, software, and network solutions across client/server environments.

The position emphasizes planning and leading SE efforts, with strong emphasis on virtualization, NetApp storage, and cross-platform support. Remote work options and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Shall have a minimum of Twenty (20) years’ experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required.
• Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.
• Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
• A Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related professional engineering discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

Responsibilities

• Configure and manage Linux operating systems with automation tools.
• Install/load OS software and troubleshoot network components for reliability and performance.
• Provide day-to-day IT operations support for clients/servers/networks.
• Support patching systems and hardware problem resolution.
• End-user support across all levels (in-person and by phone).
• Manage NetApp storage and network administration.
• Administer Omnissa Horizon (VMware Horizon) for high-performance VDI and app virtualization.

Job description

Senior Linux Engineer

Linux Administration - Analyze and resolve complex problems associated with server hardware, applications, and software integration.

• Configure and manage Linux operating systems alongside Windows 10/11 and Windows Server with automated tools such as Ansible and Puppet
• Install/load operating systems software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity of and configure network components, along with implementing operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
• Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for all the clients/servers/network devices.
• Provide support for the patching systems and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.
• End-User Support: Help desk support across all levels (both in-person and via phone)
• Infrastructure: NetApp storage management and Network administration
• Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) & App Virtualization: Manage Omnissa Horizon (formerly VMware Horizon) environments to deliver high-performance VDI and application virtualization to end users.

Nice to have:

• Experience with monitoring dashboards using SCANBOY or LatteArt
• Familiarity with enclave support

Compensation: We are committed to providing fair and competitive compensation. The salary range for this position is $78,000 to $250,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation offered across the locations where we hire. The exact salary will be determined based on the candidate's work location, specific role, skill set, and level of expertise.
