We are currently seeking a motivated Systems Administrator Associate to join our talented team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining computer systems and networks, including software updates, security patches, and troubleshooting technical issues, while requiring strong skills in operating systems, networking, basic scripting, problem-solving, and communication to ensure smooth system operations within the organization.

Work is performed on site in Norfolk, VA and Virginia Beach, VA.

This position is contingent upon award news Spring of 2026.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-level, day-to-day operational maintenance, support, and upgrades for complex operating systems, workstations and servers.
  • Assist with software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
  • Assist in scheduling installations and upgrades and maintain them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
  • Continually monitor and tune multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels.
  • Ensure workstation/server data integrity by evaluating, implementing, and managing appropriate software and hardware solutions of varying complexities.
  • Ensure data/media recoverability by assisting in the performance of system backups and database archive operations.
  • Conduct hardware and software audits of workstations and servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
  • Work closely with Network and Systems Analysts to help determine and develop the systems that will be implemented.
  • Work with other IT teams to resolve complex issues and coordinate projects.
  • Stay abreast with emerging technologies and industry best practices in the IT field.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's level degree in Electrical/Electronic/Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Information Systems.
  • 0-2 years of professional experience.
  • Knowledge of one or more operating systems like Windows, Linux, or macOS.
  • Understanding of network protocols, topologies, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Ability to write simple scripts for automation tasks (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
  • Analytical skills to identify root causes of issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical information to users of varying technical expertise.
  • Understanding of basic security concepts and best practices to protect systems from threats.
  • Ability to meticulously follow procedures and accurately configure systems.
  • Good communication and verbal skills.
  • Working knowledge of network administration and troubleshooting of Cisco routing and switching.
  • Experience administering VMware ESXi, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Windows Server Operating Systems.

Required Certificate:

  • Must possess a Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 CSWF certification.

Required Security Clearance:

  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
  • Active Interim Secret or final Secret clearance is preferred.
