The Computer Merchant (TCM) is seeking an experienced System Admin/DevOps Engineer in Quincy, MA to manage and optimize MassHealth MMIS. You will lead the move to a scalable, cloud-native AWS environment while maintaining traditional system administration on RHEL, WebLogic, and Oracle databases.

The role requires strong scripting skills and experience with CI/CD, GitLab, and cloud security. You will collaborate across development, testing, and operations to ensure reliable software delivery.

Qualifications

• Proven senior System Admin/DevOps experience in enterprise environments.
• Strong AWS, RHEL, WebLogic, and Oracle RDS administration.
• Experience migrating to cloud-native architectures on AWS.

Responsibilities

JOB DESCRIPTION:
This position will report to the MMIS Technical Manager and will serve as the Senior System Analyst for MassHealth’s MMIS application. We are seeking a versatile AWS System Administrator/DevOps Engineer to manage, maintain, and optimize our critical Medicaid Management application environment.

This role requires expertise in traditional system administration (RHEL, WebLogic, Oracle) and modern DevOps practices on AWS. A key responsibility will be building a Proof of Concept (POC) to re-architect and rebuild the legacy application in a scalable, cloud-native AWS environment.

DETAILED LIST OF ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for providing technology initiatives, support on-going release activities and POC for MMIS application transformation as System Admin/DevOps engineer.

Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in AWS cloud environments (EC2 instances).

Administer and troubleshoot Java/J2EE applications deployed on WebLogic application servers, including configuration of JDBC data sources, connection pools, and JVM performance monitoring.

Provide system-level support for Oracle RDS, collaborating with DBA teams for performance tuning, backup, and recovery.

Monitor system performance, availability, and security using tools like Dynatrace, CloudWatch and implement robust troubleshooting procedures for application and infrastructure issues.

Build a Proof of Concept (POC) for rebuilding the legacy Java/J2EE application using modern AWS services (e.g., Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3), micro services to improve scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Automate routine administrative tasks using scripting languages (Shell, Python, Jython, WLST) to increase operational efficiency.

Work closely with development, testing, and operations teams to bridge the gap between development and operations, ensuring smooth software delivery and knowledge sharing.

SKILLS:

Proven experience as a System Administrator or DevOps Engineer managing enterprise-level applications.

Strong expertise in AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch, etc.).

Hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) administration.

Proficiency in administering WebLogic application servers and supporting Java/J2EE applications.

Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers in AWS cloud environments (EC2 instances).

Familiarity with Oracle databases from a system administration perspective.

Experience with version control systems, specifically GitLab, and CI/CD practices.

Strong scripting skills (Shell, Python, etc.).

Knowledge of networking concepts and security best practices in cloud environments.

Experience or familiarity with healthcare data management and compliance standards is a plus.

Develop POC for migrating code base from WebLogic to JBoss, and ORACLE RDS to Postgres

Handson with Containerization

Collaboration work with development teams to streamline the process.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Experience and Education)

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, IT with 15+ years’ experience, or equivalent in healthcare administration setting.
