Job summary

The Panther Group is seeking a Senior AWS System Administrator / DevOps Engineer to support a large healthcare technology MMIS in a hybrid role based in Quincy, MA. • 15+ years of experience in system administration, DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or enterprise application support, or equivalent experience in a healthcare technology environment.

• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch.
• Strong experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Hands-on experience administering Oracle WebLogic and supporting Java/J2EE applications.
• Experience supporting Oracle databases from a systems or infrastructure perspective.
• Experience with GitLab, version control, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong scripting skills using Shell, Python, or similar scripting languages.

Responsibilities

• Provide system administration and DevOps support for ongoing technology initiatives, application releases, and modernization efforts.
• Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers running in AWS environments, including EC2.
• Administer and troubleshoot Java/J2EE applications deployed on Oracle WebLogic application servers.
• Configure and support WebLogic components including JDBC data sources, connection pools, and JVM performance monitoring.
• Provide system-level support for Oracle RDS, working with database administrators on performance, backup, and recovery activities.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and security using tools such as AWS CloudWatch and Dynatrace.
• Troubleshoot application, infrastructure, operating system, and cloud-related issues.
• Develop a Proof of Concept (POC) to modernize and rebuild a legacy Java/J2EE application using AWS cloud-native technologies.
• Support migration efforts involving WebLogic to JBoss and Oracle RDS to PostgreSQL.
• Evaluate and implement AWS services such as Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, EC2, VPC, and IAM.
• Support application modernization using microservices and containerization technologies.
• Automate routine system administration and operational tasks using Shell, Python, Jython, and/or WLST.
• Use GitLab and CI/CD practices to support automated software delivery and deployment.
• Work closely with development, testing, database, and operations teams to streamline application delivery and resolve technical issues.
• Document technical solutions, procedures, and operational processes while sharing knowledge across teams.

The Panther Group is hiring an experienced Senior AWS System Administrator / DevOps Engineer to support a critical healthcare technology environment in the Massachusetts area. This is a hybrid position in the Quincy, MA, area. Candidates must be able to reliably commute to this location.Please note:No C2C, Subcontracting or Visa Sponsorship of any kind is available for this position.The person hired for this position will support a large-scale Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS), providing system administration, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and application support. This role combines traditional enterprise system administration with modern AWS technologies and will play a key role in a Proof of Concept (POC) to modernize and re-architect a legacy Java/J2EE application in a cloud-native environment.
