Job summary

Integrated Power Services is seeking a Synchronous Motor Technician to disassemble, inspect, reassemble, and test control wheels, excitation systems, and associated rectifier equipment used in synchronous motors and generators.

You will document findings, follow safety standards, and support testing, balancing, and measurement activities to ensure reliable motor operation across North America and beyond.

Qualifications

• Mechanical aptitude to safely disassemble and assemble industrial components.
• Basic electrical troubleshooting using schematics and diagrams.
• Ability to use handheld electrical test equipment and precision tools.
• Strong attention to detail with documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to work safely around energized equipment and follow safety procedures.
• Experience in industrial motor repair or rotating equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, inspect, and reassemble control wheel and rectifier assemblies with proper documentation.
• Photograph and record incoming condition of components for quality logs.
• Clean, prepare, and paint electrical/mechanical components as needed during repair.
• Perform low-voltage electrical checks on diodes, SCRs, and related parts.
• Follow schematics and wiring diagrams to complete reassembly and wiring tasks.
• Install and terminate cabling, lugs, insulators, and soldered connections per standards.
• Assist with electrical testing of motors and rotors per procedures.
• Support troubleshooting of synchronization or excitation issues under engineering oversight.
• Balance rotating components using appropriate equipment.
• Collect and analyze vibration data with portable analyzers and diagnostic software.
• Support shop testing and final quality verification after repairs.
• Document findings in company systems and maintain service records.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and manage test cell inventory.
