Job summary

TriCities Hospital in Hopewell, VA is seeking a compassionate Switchboard PBX Operator to provide administrative support to patients of all populations. You will operate the console promptly and maintain courtesy when responding to callers.

You will accurately identify and take appropriate action for emergencies (Code Red, Code Blue, Code Yellow) and report repair needs. We value teamwork, adherence to hospital policies, and a patient-first approach.

Qualifications

• One (1) year of switchboard or telephone operator experience with a clear speaking voice suitable for electronic communications.
• Previous healthcare operator experience preferred, along with basic clerical and computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate console unit promptly and efficiently.
• Maintain courtesy when responding to incoming and outgoing callers.
• Identify and take appropriate action for Code Red (Red), Code Blue (CPR), Code Yellow (disaster), and bomb threats.

Job Summary and Qualifications

• You will demonstrate ability to operate console unit promptly and efficiently.

• You will maintain courtesy when responding to incoming and outgoing callers.

• You will accurately identify and take appropriate action for the following situations when they occur: Code Red (Red), Code Blue (CPR), Code Yellow (disaster), and bomb threats.

• You will report all telephone repair needs to the PBX Coordinator.

• You will review, comprehend, and adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures which pertain to work performance.

What qualifications you will need:

• One (1) year of switchboard or telephone operator experience with a clear speaking voice suitable for electronic communications.

• Previous healthcare operator experience preferred, along with basic clerical and computer skills.
