Job summary

Intermountain Health in Murray, Utah, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to support the Molecular Pathology team in a fast-paced clinical setting. This role handles specimen ordering, preparation, and delivery while collaborating with doctors, nurses, and medical laboratory scientists to ensure accurate results.

The position offers swing shifts, 30 hours per week, with opportunities to learn EMR/LIS workflows, specimen routing, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Community college program, nursing student, EMT student, healthcare related program in progress is preferred.
• Previous experience in healthcare and/or clinical laboratory is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes EMR/LIS to place orders, receive, route, track and label specimens and query test results.
• Provides clerical, administrative, and customer service support to the department. Answers phones and provides information to nursing floor and physicians, office staff, couriers and patients.
• Dispatch of couriers, as required.
• Communicates test results and/or other reports to nursing units/physician offices, electronically or printed.
• Monitors and maintains supply inventory.
• Assists in the training and orientation of new associates.
