Job summary

The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is seeking an Assistant Swim Team Coach to help develop swimmers in a safe, positive environment. You will assist with planning practices, coach at meets, and foster teamwork and personal growth.

This part-time role emphasizes strong communication with families and maintaining a high-quality program. You will work under the Head Coach, promote sportsmanship, and ensure compliance with YMCA safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 is required.
• Previous competitive swimming or coaching experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of water safety and competitive swimming techniques is expected.
• CPR/AED, First Aid and related trainings must be current or obtained within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Head Swim Team Coach in planning and conducting practices.
• Coach swimmers to improve confidence, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
• Teach proper stroke technique, starts, turns, and racing strategies.
• Prepare swimmers for competitions, assist with meet entries and warm-ups.
• Attend meets and team functions as assigned.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and positive practice environment.
• Communicate with families about practices, meets, and expectations.
• Support recruitment and retention of swimmers.
• Complete required YMCA trainings within 30 days of hire.
