Job summary

Trojan Aquatic Center in Jenks, Oklahoma is seeking a Swim Lesson Instructor to help children learn to swim and stay engaged during lessons.

Reporting to the Coordinator, Trojan Aquatic Center, you will lead lessons, uphold student behavior standards, and supervise safety across all activities. This is a temporary contract position for community education.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Certification in CPR, First Aid (Required) and Water Safety Instructor (WSI) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with young children, parents and community members.
  • Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge of swim lesson teaching skills, leadership, organization and teamwork.
  • Create an environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
  • Provide oversight for the safety conditions at all times.
  • Model positive reinforcement with students and staff.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Position Goal: To create an atmosphere where kids successfully learn how to swim.
