Position: Aquatic Center Fitness Instructor

Reports to: Aquatic Center Director

Supervises: None

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Must hold current certification as an Aquatic Fitness Instructor by the United States Water Fitness Assoc., Water Fitness Assoc., American Fitness Professionals & Associates, American Exercise Association, or equivalent professional standards association.
  • Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health, citizenship and background check.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.
Performance Responsibilities
  • Model core organizational beliefs and values.
  • Communicate openly and effectively with internal and external customers.
  • Assist in providing facility leadership for community events.
  • Teaches scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time.
  • Provides adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching, and cool down.
  • Instructs patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
  • Assists patrons, answers questions, and maintains a positive exercise experience for members and class participants.
  • Keeps Aquatic Center Director informed of pool activities, facility needs, and significant problems.
  • Ensures that safety standards are met, and that department and facility policies are adhered to.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
