Job summary

The Jewish Community Center Of Greater Columbus is hiring a Swim Instructor to provide swimming and water safety instruction to participants of all ages. Instructors will follow the American Red Cross Learn-To-Swim curriculum while teaching both private and group lessons.

This role requires maturity, basic water skills, and certifications such as CPR/AED and Water Safety Instructor, which JCC will assist in obtaining. Candidates must be at least 16 years old and demonstrate strong communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years or older.
• Knowledge of CPR/AED and First Aid is preferred.
• Exhibit maturity and responsibility in water activities.

Responsibilities

• Inform supervisor of dangerous situations.
• Follow protocols for evaluating swimmers.
• Prepare lesson plans and maintain participant notes.
• Check cleanliness of bathrooms and deck.

Job description

Position Summary

The Swim Instructor position is an integral part of the JCC Aquatics Department American Red Cross Learn To Swim program. Swim Instructors will be assigned to both group and private swim lessons. Our instructors will provide swimming and water safety instruction assistance to children and adults following the American Red Cross Learn-To-Swim curriculum and guidelines.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Inform your supervisor of potentially dangerous situations.
• Follow program protocols for the evaluation and progress of Learn-To-Swim participants.
• Arrive to work on time and prepared to teach your lessons.
• Prepare well-designed lesson plans for each class session.
• Maintain notes on participants and ideas for future classes.
• Participate in regular in-service training sessions and meetings.
• During down time you are responsible for checking the bathrooms, trash, and deck for cleanliness.
• All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Age Requirement: 16 years and older.
• Knowledge and Education Preferred: Possesses or working towards High School diploma (or equivalent), American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid certification & American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certifications (JCC will assist in obtaining these certifications).
• Experience - Minimum Required or Preferred: Possesses basic water skills and exhibits a strong sense of maturity and responsibility.
• Special Skills: Must be able to assist, communicate, and work with people of all ages.
