Job summary

Tulane group is seeking a Swim Instructor in New Orleans to provide private and group swimming instruction for adults and children of all levels. The role covers fundamentals, stroke mechanics, and water safety with flexible hours including weekends and evenings.

You will evaluate progress and maintain ARC records, following department policies. Requirements include ARC Water Safety Instructor and CPR/First Aid certifications, plus the ability to work independently and communicate effectively

Qualifications

  • Must be 16 years or older.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to instruct swimming lessons.
  • Knowledge of swimming strokes and teaching levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work without supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provide private and group swimming instruction to adults and children of all levels.
  • Teach swimming fundamentals, stroke mechanics and water safety.
  • Evaluate student achievement and progress.
  • Complete routine paperwork and maintain course records with the American Red Cross.
  • Work hours include weekends and evenings.

Job description

The Swim Instructor provides private and group instruction to adults and children of all levels and abilities. This position teaches swimming fundamentals, stroke mechanics, and water safety. Work hours are flexible and include weekends and evenings. This position is knowledgeable of the policies and procedures defined by the department. Additional responsibilities include evaluating student achievement, completing routine paperwork, and maintaining course records with the American Red Cross.

  • Experience in aquatics.
  • Must possess American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications or the ability to obtain within the first two months of employment.
