Job summary

The Fox Valley Park District is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor for Vaughan Aquatic Center in Aurora, IL. You will deliver swim lessons, supervise swimmers, and follow the curriculum for your level, reporting progress to parents and maintaining safety in the water.

The ideal candidate is 16 or older, reliable, able to swim for long periods, and has strong communication for customer service. You must be able to work mornings, weekends, and holidays and obtain CPR/AED certification within 30

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 16 or older with reliable transportation to and from work.
• The ideal candidate will be dependable and reliable with a strong sense of safety and responsibility for the teaching and care of children and adults.
• Previous experience interacting with children is preferred.
• Must be able to swim and be comfortable in the water for long periods of time.
• Strong and effective communication skills with the ability and desire to provide quality customer service is essential.
• Must be confident in instructing swim lessons for individuals of all ages and abilities.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including mornings, weekends and holidays.
• Must have or obtain CPR/AED certification within 30 days of hire.
• Proficient in MS Outlook or other email system for communication.

DUTIES

• Under the direction and supervision of the Aquatics Program Coordinator and the Aquatics Program Supervisor, the Swim Instructor will provide instruction for swim lessons and supervise swimmers.
• Duties include but are not limited to: following appropriate curriculum for the level assigned, monitoring and communicating progress to parents, keeping daily records, maintaining constant surveillance to ensure the safety of participants in the water, adhering to and enforcing all policies and procedures, completing required in-service training, and assist with maintaining the cleanliness of the pool deck.
• Additionally, this position will recognize and prevent potential hazardous or accident situations.
• This is an at-will position.
