Job summary

GLENVIEW PARK DISTRICT is seeking part-time Swim Instructors to work at Splash Indoor Aquatic Center in Glenview, IL. You will deliver lessons, monitor safety, and track student progress.

You’ll be trained prior to your first day; prior experience is welcome but not required. Weekend mornings and weekday evenings are available, with competitive hourly pay and benefits for staff.

Qualifications

• Age requirement: must be at least 15 on first day; candidates under 16 must provide a worker's permit.
• Must pass swimming assessment test and swim lesson training program.
• Prior swim instructor experience is desirable but not required; training provided.

JOB SUMMARY

Glenview Park District is looking to hire swim instructors to work at Splash Indoor Aquatic Center located at Park Center. The Swim Instructor is responsible for the following duties, but not limited to:

• Providing swim instruction based on Glenview Park District Starfish Swim School curriculum
• Enforcing safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents
• Evaluating swimmers’ progress and complete necessary paperwork
• Interacting with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 15 years old by the first day of work. Candidates under the age of 16 years old must provide a worker’s permit to work.
• Qualified applicants must able to successfully pass our swimming assessment test and our swim lesson training program
• Prior experience as a swim instructor is highly desirable, but not necessary. All swim instructor staff will be trained prior to their first day of work.

SCHEDULING & PAY

This position is part-time, year-round position with an anticipated start date of early October. The exact start date is subject to change, and updates will be communicated as they become available.

Schedule is flexible and accommodating based on staff preference. Lessons are offered on weekend mornings from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. and weekday nights from 4:15 p.m.-7:00 p.m.

The pay rate for this position ranges from $16.00-$17.50/hour, based on qualifications, for Group Lessons and $30.00-32.00/hour for Private Lessons
