Job summary

Elk Grove Park District seeks a Starfish Aquatics Institute Swim Instructor to lead evening swim lessons under the supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator.

You will teach participants of all ages, adhere to Starfish standards, and communicate goals to parents while ensuring safety and district policies are followed.

Responsibilities

• Familiarity with all basic swimming strokes and water safety skills.
• Follow Starfish Aquatics Institute standards and guidelines for each level of lessons.
• Enthusiastic and energetic attitude about swimming and swim instruction.
• Communicate with the parents the goals and objectives of the program; be available for any questions or concerns.
• Attend monthly in-service trainings to maintain and improve upon skills and techniques.
• Ability to instruct participants of all ages and levels of swimming ability.
• Ability to correct various stroke techniques of individual participants.
• Flexibility to substitute and teach any level of class if necessary.
• Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
• Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.

Education

Certified Starfish Aquatics Institute Swim Instructor or able to obtain certification before teaching the first lesson

Pay Rate: $15.00 - $16.00
Hours: Monday through Thursday 4pm-7:45pm

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general supervision of the Aquatics Coordinator responsible for creating a safe, fun and educational environment for all participants enrolled in the swim lesson program.
