Job summary

YMCA of Greater Cleveland is seeking a Swim Instructor to plan and deliver swim instruction to members and participants using the YMCA curriculum. You will be expected to be punctual, professional, and safety-conscious, ensuring high-quality classes and positive experiences for all participants and their families.

You will uphold YMCA values, maintain equipment and pool areas, and coordinate with the Program Director on evaluations and class adjustments.

Qualifications

• Public speaking and customer service orientation to diverse groups.
• 6+ months instructor experience in aquatic areas preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Current swim instructor certification (WSI or YSI) preferred or obtained within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Instruct swim classes using Y swim curriculum.
• Plan classes in advance and start on time with proper materials.
• Ensure safety and enforce YMCA rules in class.
• Maintain clean pool area and prepare for substitutions as needed.
• Communicate with participants and parents; report issues to supervisor.
