Phillips Academy Aquatics Center is seeking an Aquatics Swim Instructor to provide safe, engaging, and effective recreational swim instruction from October through May 2027. The role focuses on water safety, stroke development, and building confidence around the water.

Salary varies by experience with base hourly rates ranging from $23–$26 for standard instruction and $27–$30 for private lessons; schedule includes weekday evenings and weekend shifts based on program needs.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Strong swimming and prior swim instruction experience.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with participants of varying ages and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver structured swim lessons aligned with program standards.
• Teach water safety skills and proper stroke technique.
• Adapt lessons to meet individual participant needs and skill levels.
• Maintain a positive, encouraging, and inclusive learning environment.
• Ensure the safety of all participants at all times.
• Enforce pool rules and facility policies.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies in accordance with training.
• Communicate with participants, parents, and staff; provide progress feedback.
• Maintain a clean and organized pool deck and instructional areas.
