POSITION SUMMARY:

The YMCA is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening community and is the nation's largest provider of swim lessons aimed at increasing water safety and skill. This position involves providing direct leadership, instruction, and motivation to students in swimming classes.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

Under the supervision of the Aquatics Director or Coordinator, the instructor will:

1. Hold recommended certifications including CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Basic First Aid.
2. Demonstrate swim instructor skills in line with YMCA standards.
3. Be at least 15 years old.
4. Complete required training within 30 days of hire, including Child Abuse Prevention.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques and lift equipment or small to average-sized children.
