About the Position

The City of Aurora is seeking dedicated Lifeguards for the Village Green Outdoor Pool, Aqua Vista Outdoor Pool, and Southeast Recreation Center. Training and certification are provided. Applicants must have at least 12 hours of weekly availability. This is a part-time, variable hour position (VHNE) earning $17.50/hour, without medical benefits, but with sick leave in accordance with the Healthy Families and Workplace Act.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of pools
  • Provide patron information
  • Enforce pool rules
  • Respond to emergencies
  • Perform daily pool maintenance
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Equivalent training and experience demonstrating required knowledge, abilities, and skills
  • Knowledge of pool safety and emergency action plans
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment
  • Skill in lifesaving techniques and emergency response
  • Certifications: Lifeguard training, First Aid, CPR-PR; Water Safety Instructor Certification preferred
Physical and Work Environment
  • Moderate physical work; ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Work outdoors and indoors in varying weather conditions
  • Operate aquatic facility equipment
