Job summary

BNY Mellon is seeking a Senior Vice President, Sustainability Risk to advance and embed the sustainability risk framework across the firm. You will lead risk identification, assessment, and governance, partnering with stakeholders to deliver practical risk solutions and regulatory alignment.

The role reports to the Head of Board Governance, Sustainability Risk & Communications and is located in Pittsburgh, PA or Lake Mary, FL.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in risk management or related disciplines.
• Experience implementing risk frameworks in a complex, regulated organization.
• Expertise in sustainability risk identification, materiality, metrics, reporting, and due diligence.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to use AI tools and prompting techniques.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across functions and seniority levels.
• Strong written and verbal communication for senior management and governance forums.
• Proactive, delivery-focused with the ability to lead independently.

Responsibilities

• Drive execution and enhancement of the enterprise sustainability risk framework, ensuring practices remain effective and aligned with regulatory expectations.
• Identify, assess and monitor emerging sustainability risks and regulations, and integrate them into risk governance processes.
• Lead materiality assessments and analyses to support risk prioritization and decision-making.
• Develop sustainability risk methodologies, metrics, and KRIs for enterprise oversight.
• Review client and vendor due diligence to identify sustainability-related risk considerations and gaps.
• Translate findings and regulatory developments into actionable risk insights and recommendations.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to embed sustainability risk into business processes.
• Prepare concise, decision-oriented materials for senior management and governance forums.
