Job description

Build Relationships. Command the Market. Create Opportunities. Drive Growth.

Some bankers manage portfolios. Others build markets, establish influential relationships, and become the trusted financial partner behind some of the region's most successful businesses. We’re looking for an accomplished Senior Vice President, Relationship Manager who knows how to turn connections into opportunities, opportunities into business, and business into lasting partnerships.

This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned commercial banking professional with a strong business development mindset, exceptional credit expertise, and the executive presence to work alongside business owners, C-suite leaders, and influential decision-makers. You’ll take the lead in developing and expanding a sophisticated commercial banking portfolio, bringing together strategic lending solutions, treasury management, deposit relationships, and comprehensive financial services to meet the evolving needs of middle-market and upper-middle-market clients.

This role is about more than bringing in new business. It’s about understanding what makes a company successful, recognizing where it is headed, anticipating its financial needs, and positioning yourself as the banker clients call before making their next big move. If you have the relationships, the experience, and the drive to make a meaningful impact in the Southern California banking market, this opportunity deserves your attention!

What You’ll Be Doing

Build and Grow Your Portfolio: Develop, manage, and expand a profitable commercial banking portfolio, taking ownership of relationship growth, revenue generation, credit quality, and long‑term client retention.

Bring in New Business: Proactively identify and pursue new commercial banking opportunities through networking, centers of influence, professional referrals, community involvement, and strategic business development efforts.

Become the Trusted Advisor: Establish meaningful relationships with business owners, executives, CFOs, and key decision-makers by understanding their operations, financial objectives, industry challenges, and future growth plans.

Structure Strategic Solutions: Identify opportunities across commercial lending, lines of credit, term loans, owner‑occupied real estate, commercial real estate, treasury management, deposits, and other banking services.

Lead Complex Credit Opportunities: Evaluate financial performance, assess repayment capacity, understand risk exposure, and structure sophisticated credit facilities that support client objectives while protecting the bank.

Partner Across the Organization: Work closely with underwriting, credit administration, treasury management, and internal leadership to deliver customized financial solutions and an exceptional client experience.

Present with Confidence: Prepare and present comprehensive credit proposals to loan committees and senior leadership, clearly communicating deal structures, financial analysis, risk considerations, and recommendations.

Strengthen Market Presence: Build a recognizable presence throughout Newport and the broader Southern California market, developing referral relationships and expanding the institution's reputation.

Lead Through Experience: Serve as a mentor and resource to junior relationship managers and banking professionals, sharing knowledge, encouraging collaboration, and helping develop future leaders.

Protect the Portfolio: Maintain disciplined credit oversight, monitor relationship performance, identify potential concerns, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal lending policies.

Deliver an Exceptional Experience: Stay engaged with clients, anticipate their needs, resolve challenges, and consistently deliver the responsiveness and professionalism expected from a senior banking partner.
