Job summary

New York City Economic Development Corporation seeks a SVP of Policy to drive high-impact research on emerging economic and policy issues facing NYC. You will lead major studies from question development through analysis and communicate findings to senior leadership and external stakeholders.

Role requires strong economic judgment, excellent communication, and ability to translate data into actionable policy insights. NYC residency is required within 180 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Government, Statistics, Economics, Urban Planning, or related field.
• 10+ years of policy research and analysis experience.
• Experience leading complex research and policy projects.
• Strong economic and policy judgment with ability to translate evidence into insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to present clearly.
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; R is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Set direction for NYCEDC’s policy research agenda with the Chief Economist.
• Serve as a senior thought partner to agency and City leadership; provide independent research.
• Lead comparative policy research with NYC peers; assess applicability to NYC.
• Build partnerships across NYCEDC and City agencies to align research.
• Shape legislative priorities with Government and Community Partnerships.
• Represent NYCEDC’s policy research externally through presentations and publications.
• Respond to ad-hoc data requests from internal teams and City Hall.
• Lead or contribute to high-priority research initiatives and communicate findings.
