New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst in Economic Data Analytics to deepen understanding of NYC’s economy and inform city policy. You will own recurring analytics streams, contribute to publications, and translate complex data into clear insights for leadership and external audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Statistics, Economics, Urban Planning, or Public Policy; strong statistics exposure.
• 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Master's with 2+ years; policy analyst level possibility.
• Proficiency in R with advanced Excel; experience with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; reproducible code.
• Experience with public microdata (ACS/PUMS, CPS, QCEW) a plus.
• Experience with spatial data and GIS a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to convey technical data clearly.
• Ability to create clear charts, tables, and data visualizations.
• Attention to detail and data quality management.
• Ability to manage multiple recurring deliverables and priorities.

Responsibilities

• Research, prepare data, and draft publications (policy briefs; external reports).
• Maintain recurring analyses of NYC’s economy (population, labor, neighborhoods).
• Analyze data from Census, BLS, etc. to generate industry and demographic insights.
• Respond to ad-hoc data requests from internal teams and City Hall staff.
• Support fiscal and economic impact modeling for real estate projects and policy changes.
• Benchmark NYC against peer cities and research best practices from other jurisdictions.
• Review complex spreadsheets, formulas, code, and materials for accuracy.
• Contribute to data sources and best practices for analysis.
• Identify research topics and present findings to stakeholders.
