Job summary

Quantum Technology Group, LLC is seeking a Sustainment Engineer to provide Tier 2/3 operations, maintenance, and sustainment support for the VA Enterprise Load Balancing Solution. Four engineers are planned; initial work focuses on operational readiness and ongoing support for the deployed delivery platform.

The role requires a US citizen with VA background suitability; remote work from CONUS facilities is allowed with VA site support as directed by the COR.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• 4+ years of Tier 2/3 enterprise load balancing/support experience.
• Experience with incident response, configuration, patching, and availability management.
• Must be a U.S. citizen with VA background/suitability.
• Clearance and VA access prerequisites required.

Responsibilities

• Develop the operational model, baselines, runbooks, and monitoring configurations for production readiness.
• Triage and resolve platform incidents; document root causes and corrective actions; participate in on-call escalation.
• Meet incident targets: Severity 1–4 response and restoration timelines as defined.
• Maintain platform configs, changes, backups, and patches per OEM lifecycle; observe VA freezes.
• Monitor capacity, availability, and performance; contribute to reports and dependency tracking.
• Coordinate troubleshooting with OEM support and gov personnel; mentor SMEs in shadow activities.

Quantum Technology Group, LLC is seeking a skilled Sustainment Engineer to provide Tier 2 and Tier 3 operations, maintenance, and sustainment support for the VA Enterprise Load Balancing Solution in support of VTP. Four engineers are planned for the sustainment team. Initial work builds operational readiness; subsequent work supports the deployed application delivery platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop the operational model, configuration baselines, runbooks, troubleshooting procedures, automation, and monitoring, logging, and identity integration needed for production readiness.
• Triage and resolve platform incidents, document root causes and corrective actions, and participate in on-call escalation for production-impacting events.
• Support incident targets: Severity 1 response within 15 minutes and restoration or an approved workaround within 4 hours; Severity 2 within 1 hour and 8 hours; Severity 3 within 4 hours and 1 business day; Severity 4 within 1 business day and 5 business days.
• Maintain platform configurations, approved changes, backups, and patching aligned with the OEM Long-Term Service Release lifecycle where applicable; observe VA change freezes.
• Monitor capacity, availability, and performance; contribute quarterly baseline comparisons and the Monthly Operations Report, including documented dependency pauses and resumptions.
• Coordinate complex troubleshooting with OEM senior engineering reach-back, support hardware-event coordination through the COR, and coach Government SMEs through shadow and reverse-shadow activities.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in IT, computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience: 4+ years of demonstrated Tier 2/3 support of enterprise load balancing or application delivery controllers, including incident response, configuration, patching, and availability management
• Skills: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, TLS, high availability, diagnostic analysis, scripting or automation, monitoring, and change documentation.
• Clearance: Obtain and maintain the VA-required background investigation, suitability determination, and PIV or other access credentials applicable to assigned duties. Any national security clearance requirement is determined by the assigned work.
• Citizenship: U.S. citizen required.

Preferred:

• Citrix ADC/NetScaler experience and platform-relevant OEM certification; OEM competency and warranty/support requirements apply to assigned engineering work.
• Federal infrastructure experience, ITIL knowledge, and exposure to Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop integrations.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Layer 4/7 traffic management, GSLB, health checks, certificates, failover, backup and recovery, and IPv4/IPv6 translation.
• STIG hardening, FIPS cryptographic requirements, WAF policies, identity integration, and Zero Trust controls as applicable to assigned support duties.
• Platform incident targets apply to attributable events; government or third-party dependency interruptions must be documented under the contract's pause rules.

Additional Requirements:

• Work standard VA business coverage hours and participate in an on-call rotation for production-impacting events; this is distinct from separately ordered OEM 24x7 maintenance coverage.
• The staffing workbook phases in base-year hours and allocates four FTE in option years. Actual start dates and staffing must follow the Government-approved Sustainment Staffing Plan.
• Remain CONUS-based; complete VA security and privacy training and sign applicable Rules of Behavior. Read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Coordinate any physical access to VA facilities or hardware through the COR before the event.
