Job summary

BAUER Equipment America seeks a Sustaining Mechanical Engineer in Conroe, Texas to support released products, investigate field issues, and improve durability and serviceability. You will lead ECR/ECO processes, manage configurations, and drive reliability with cross-functional teams.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 5+ years in heavy equipment design or sustaining engineering, and proficiency in SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of mechanical design/sustaining engineering in heavy equipment or capital machinery.
• Experience with drilling equipment and field exposure preferred.
• Strong design background in structural design, hydraulics, electrical and controls, and manufacturing methods.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for released products; investigate and resolve field, customer, and manufacturing issues to maintain reliability, safety, and performance.
• Design and improve mechanical and structural components; create and revise 3D models, drawings, and documentation to enhance durability and serviceability.
• Lead product change management activities (ECRs/ECOs), configuration control, and implement design improvements across product lines.
• Drive reliability and continuous improvement by analyzing warranty data and field feedback to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Field Service to support performance and execute high-impact improvement projects.

Our subsidiary BAUER Equipment America represents BAUER Maschinen GmbH in the USA and is looking for a Sustaining Mechanical Engineer (m/f/x) for its location in Conroe, Texas, USA.

• Provide engineering support for released products, investigating and resolving field, customer, and manufacturing issues while maintaining product reliability, safety, and performance
• Design and improve mechanical and structural components, including creating and revising 3D models, drawings, and engineering documentation to enhance product durability, manufacturability, and serviceability
• Lead product change management activities, including ECRs/ECOs, configuration control, and implementation of design improvements across product lines
• Drive reliability and continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing warranty, field, and manufacturing data to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Field Service to support product performance, resolve technical issues, and execute high-impact improvement projects

Your profile:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or as deemed sufficient by management
• 5+ years of mechanical design and/or sustaining engineering experience in heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or capital equipment manufacturing
• Experience with drilling equipment and hands-on field exposure strongly preferred
• Strong mechanical design background with demonstrated strength in structural design, working knowledge of hydraulic systems and of electrical and controls engineering as well as solid knowledge of manufacturing methods and procedures
• Proficiency in CAD design software required (SOLIDWORKS and AutoCAD), experience with PDM/PLM and ERP systems preferred
• Willingness to travel to manufacturing, customer, and field locations as required
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
