Job summary

Form Energy is seeking an experienced Sustaining Controls Engineer to join the Operations Team at the West Virginia facility. You will be the technical backbone for manufacturing operations, owning lifecycle of deployed control systems, diagnosing complex issues, and driving PLC, HMI, and MES software improvements to maximize uptime, throughput, and safety.

Relocation assistance is available. Candidates should have 6+ years in industrial control systems, with Siemens TIA-Portal and Rockwell

Qualifications

6+ years of hands-on experience as an engineer working on industrial control systems in a manufacturing environment.
Proficient in PLC programming and troubleshooting across multiple platforms.
Experience with Siemens TIA-Portal, Rockwell Studio 5000, Ignition Perspective, Siemens WinCC and Rockwell FTView ME.
Experience with MES integration and data handshakes in industrial settings.

Responsibilities

Production Escalation & Support: serve as primary engineering escalation point for Sustaining Automation Technicians to resolve complex electrical, controls, and OT network issues.
Continuous Improvement: independently design and execute PLC, HMI, and SCADA software changes to optimize equipment and throughput.
Systems Integration & Troubleshooting: troubleshoot MES data transactions within PLC programs and ensure accurate product tracking.
Mentorship: provide technical guidance and training to Automation Technicians on the factory floor.
On-Call Rotation: participate in rotating on-call duties for off-hour escalations.
Vendor & Project Management: work with equipment vendors and internal teams on retrofits, upgrades and addressing long-term technical debt.
Safety & Compliance: ensure all plant automation meets safety policies and standards.
