Job summary

VOLTO Consulting is seeking a Controls System Engineer to design and implement control systems for on-site Columbus, IN operations. You will develop bench tests, modify software and hardware to meet specs, and provide debugging support for complex change requests.

You will install and support PLC-based systems, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with other disciplines to improve processes and equipment across assembly and machining areas. Strong Rockwell/Siemens experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience designing and programming Rockwell ControlLogix systems.
• Proficient with Rockwell Studio 5000 and FactoryTalk View Studio.
• Experience with PLC hardware and communication protocols.
• 4–6 years of PLC programming experience on Rockwell and Siemens platforms.
• Experience with machine safety systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop and design control systems; develop and implement bench tests; alter software and equipment to ensure sensors and actuators function according to specifications; support and debug complex problems and change requests.
• Responsible for installation and technical support of PLC-based hardware and software, coaching and mentoring less experienced Controls Engineers.
• Support control activities for plant transformation in Assembly and/or Machining areas as needed.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to develop and improve processes and equipment.
• Work with equipment suppliers to drive programming, network, architecture, hardware and documentation standards for new equipment.
• Manage PLC, HMI, and MES programming changes; provide production support as needed.
