Job summary

MnDOT seeks a Sustainability and Public Health Engineer to lead engineering activities in the Office of Sustainability and Public Health, integrating climate action and healthy, equitable communities into project development.

You will collaborate with staff and partners to identify needs, develop guidance, and support implementation of requirements, focusing on policy and standard updates and emerging areas.

Qualifications

• Professional engineer licensure in Minnesota (AELSLAGID).
• Three years of experience as an Engineer Senior or equivalent in sustainable transportation.
• Experience drafting or revising transportation policies, procedures, or standards related to sustainable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead processes to incorporate sustainability and public health into MnDOT engineering standards, manuals, regulations, and technical guidance.
• Facilitate decision-making with technical partners to identify needs, set targets, document approaches, deliver training, and evaluate progress.
• Develop and review engineering plans, proposals, design plates, and related tools reflecting climate science, agency goals, statutes, and applicable engineering standards.
• Monitor and interpret sustainability and public health trends to identify engineering process improvements and inform agency decisions.
