Job summary

MnDOT is seeking a Sustainability and Public Health Engineer to integrate sustainability and public health into the transportation project development process in Minnesota. The role partners with staff and experts to assess needs, develop guidance, and support implementation of state and federal requirements.

Qualifications

• Professional engineer license in Minnesota (AELSLAGID) or eligible by comity is required.
• Three years of experience as an Engineer Senior or equivalent with transportation focus.
• Experience drafting or revising transportation policies or standards related to sustainable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Lead processes to incorporate sustainability and public health into MnDOT engineering standards, manuals, regulations, and guidance.
• Facilitate decision-making with technical partners to identify needs, set targets, document approaches, deliver training, and evaluate progress.
• Develop and review engineering plans, proposals, and design tools to reflect climate science, agency goals, statutes, and standards.
• Monitor trends in sustainability and public health to identify process improvements and inform agency decisions.
