Job summary

Trane Technologies in Lexington, KY is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design equipment and systems supporting sustainable HVAC goals for buildings, homes and transport. You will collaborate with engineering teams to develop concepts for new and improved commercial products and drive solutions that meet performance and reliability targets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Sciences (BS) in Engineering Discipline.
• 2+ years experience contributing to technical aspects of product design projects.
• Ability to work across engineering, design, operations and manufacturing teams.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• HVAC knowledge or related engineered product environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet internal and external customer needs by documenting, understanding and prioritizing requirements.
• Apply technical expertise to solve design problems or to gauge product suitability for applications.
• Participate on project teams to meet performance, reliability, cost and schedule objectives.
• Create and maintain engineering documentation, including 3D models, bills of materials, drawings, and specifications.
• Conduct design FMEAs; develop and execute resulting risk mitigation plans.
• Domestic and international travel may be required. Estimated travel is 10%.
• Participate in risk assessments, design reviews, and problem-solving activities to support safe, reliable, and manufacturable designs.
• Help identify and implement design improvements that enhance product quality, manufacturability, and customer satisfaction.
• Partner with manufacturing engineers to incorporate DFM principles into electrical designs and documentation to improve quality, safety, and assembly efficiency.
• Work with lab engineers to ensure customer witness test readiness and support validation of electrical system performance.
• Support root cause analysis and corrective actions related to quality, reliability, and field issues.
