Job description

Deltek is seeking a sustainability expert to help maintain and enhance the sustainability information in our library of master guide construction specifications and advise on strategic initiatives to further sustainability in the AECO industry. The successful candidate will be an architect or engineer with experience writing construction specifications for building projects pursuing certification for LEED, WELL, Green Globes, or other sustainability rating systems.

As a Sustainability Lead, you will ensure the quality and integrity of sustainability information in the AIA MasterSpec and Deltek SpecText content libraries and the Specpoint product library. In this capacity, you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Advise Deltek on latest topics, trends, and technical advances in sustainable design and how these influence product decisions on building projects and construction documentation.

  • Represent Deltek in the sustainability community and liaise with Deltek's sustainability partners, including the American Institute of Architects.

  • Evaluate and update Deltek's current sustainability database to assure accuracy, completeness, and usability of the content within each rating system. Plan and implement the addition of new sustainability rating systems.

  • Review the sustainability language in all architectural and engineering sections in the specification library for appropriateness and completeness.

  • Write master guide specifications related to sustainability and building envelope topics, encompassing changes to sustainability rating systems, building codes, industry standards, and innovations documented in trade association publications. Follow internal workflow processes and editorial standards.

  • Advise on ways to highlight sustainability in the Deltek Specpoint product library to help inform product selection.

  • Respond to sustainability questions from internal and external stakeholders, customers, and partners.

  • Make occasional presentations and write thought leadership pieces related to sustainability.

  • Partner with product management and content leaders to translate sustainability requirements into reusable structured data (attributes, tags, and rules) enabling Specpoint to automate rating-system compliance, product filtering, and project reporting. Contribute to the sustainability roadmap and help prioritize value to the industry.

  • Other duties as required.

Licensed Professional Architect or Engineer (P.E.) with at least 8 years' experience in commercial and institutional building construction projects. Experience in infrastructure construction a plus. Equivalent demonstrated experience will be considered.

  • In-depth knowledge of sustainability rating systems and energy conservation codes. LEED AP BD+C certification required; WELL, Green Globes or other certifications a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of specification writing, construction documents, contracts, and contract administration. Construction Document Technologist (CDT) and Certified Construction Specifier (CCS) preferred.

  • Experience preparing specifications for large and complex commercial building construction either in a firm or as an independent consultant.

  • Experience in preparation of applications for LEED or other rating system certifications.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Public speaking experience a plus.

  • Superior time management and organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently on multiple concurrent projects and complete work accurately and on time.

  • Experience with BIM, Revit, and other tools of the trade. Experience using AI tools to enhance productivity desired.

  • Experience with MasterSpec and Specpoint desired.

  • Comfort working with structured content and data models (taxonomies, attributes, tagging) alongside a software product team. Experience turning specification requirements into machine-readable form strongly preferred.

The U.S. salary range for this position is $72,000.00-$127,000.00. This range is subject to change as Deltek takes a number of factors into consideration when determining individual base pay, such as location, job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
