OVERVIEW
ASR Group aims to be the most sustainable sugar refining business globally. The Sustainability Engineer reports directly to the site Facility Manager and collaborates with the Senior Director of ESG Programming, VP of CSR, and other departments. Key responsibilities include supporting the development and implementation of ESG/Sustainability frameworks, driving progress on sustainability KPIs, and fostering a culture of sustainability across departments. The role involves internal and external stakeholder communication, community engagement, and leading sustainability initiatives.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Act as a change agent for ESG efforts.
• Support the development and maintenance of the site’s ESG framework and sustainability plans.
• Analyze data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Lead projects that reduce resource use and environmental impact, including targets like a 5% CO2 reduction every 2 years, and exceeding the 50% GHG reduction goal by 2030.
• Collaborate with experts on complex reduction strategies.
• Seek funding for sustainability projects.
• Manage CSR certifications and audits.
• Develop site-specific carbon market programs.
• Ensure sustainability training and documentation.
• Track, report, and validate ESG data.
• Coordinate with marketing and CSR teams for reporting.
• Support community engagement activities.
• Perform other duties as needed.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• BS in Environmental and Social Sustainability, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
ESSENTIAL WORK EXPERIENCES
• Minimum 5 years in sustainable development, especially in manufacturing.
• Experience with sustainability reporting standards (GRI, ISO, GHG Protocol, etc.).
• Experience with validation audits and third-party programs.
• Familiarity with web-based reporting platforms (CDP, Ecovadis, etc.).
• Experience with management systems and resource conservation projects.
