About the Role
We are seeking a Sushi Cook to join our team. The ideal candidate will anticipate and address the needs of the company and client partners with a focus on order fulfillment, quality control, presentation, plating, and delivering high‑end final products while maintaining rigorous hygiene and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and specialty items according to recipes and standards.
- Maintain the highest level of food quality, consistency, and presentation.
- Cook and season rice to the proper texture and flavor.
- Slice fish and prepare ingredients while ensuring freshness and proper storage.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation guidelines, maintaining a clean and organized workstation.
- Assist in receiving, labeling, and storing daily deliveries of fresh ingredients.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate shortages or restock needs to management.
- Ensure proper knife handling and equipment maintenance.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to support smooth and efficient service.
- Maintain knowledge of menu items, specials, and preparation techniques.
- Uphold company standards for customer satisfaction and overall dining experience.
Qualifications
- Prior experience making sushi rolls and handling raw fish (required).
- Excellent knife and food preparation skills.
- Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and sushi‑making techniques.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Commitment to food safety and cleanliness.
- Positive attitude, teamwork, and professionalism.
Job Requirements
- DOH Food Handler’s license preferred.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, and holidays as required.
- Capability to maintain a stationary position, often standing for prolonged periods in varying temperature conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs; ability to repeatedly lift 25 lbs.
- Availability to work a schedule from 4 am‑1:30 pm, Monday‑Friday.
