Job summary

JAPANMART is seeking a friendly Sushi/Kitchen Associate to support daily operations of our cooked foods and sushi section. Team members will assist with food preparation, customer service, and maintaining a clean and efficient workspace.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, delivering great service, and being part of a supportive team. Part-time position, up to 30 hours per week with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

Sushi preparation experience preferred but not required — training provided.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Friendly, positive attitude and strong work ethic.
Ability to stand for periods of time in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and food quality.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Assist with sushi preparation and food assembly under JAPANMART quality standards.
Follow instructions from supervisor.
Prepare ingredients with proper portioning and presentation.
Prepare all cooked foods and menu offerings consistently and promptly.
Monitor cooking times, quality, and brand standards.
Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department requirements.
Operate kitchen equipment safely.
Assist with packaging, labeling, restocking, and inventory checks.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and prep areas.
Assist with opening/closing kitchen procedures.
