Job summary

sbe Lifestyle Hospitality in Los Angeles is seeking a Sushi Cook to prepare ingredients and assemble dishes according to restaurant recipes. You will work efficiently in a fast-paced setting with emphasis on hygiene and punctuality.

The role requires at least two years in a contemporary dining restaurant, ability to stand long shifts, and strong communication with staff. Must meet food safety standards; on-site schedule includes evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years relevant experience in high-end, service-focused environment.
• ANSI approved Food Handler Card and Responsible Beverage Service certificate recognized by the ABC.

Responsibilities

• Expertly cutting, slicing, and filleting different types of fish.
• Inspecting the quality of fruits, vegetables, and fish used to prepare sushi dishes and informing the Executive Chef when quality is sub-standard.
• Preparing various types of sushi dishes according to established guidelines on quality, portion size, presentation, and food safety.
• Maintaining a clean work environment in order to prevent food contamination.
• Regularly taking inventory of food supplies and other products.
• Reporting any problems with kitchen equipment to the manager on duty.
• Sterilizing all utensils, instruments, and equipment used in sushi preparation before every use.
• Communicating with wait staff to ensure that special requests and food allergy considerations are met.
• Must be a highly organized individual with the ability to handle numerous tasks at a time
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Has excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Maintains a "sense of urgency" attitude for the completion of responsibilities/tasks
