Job summary

Montclair Hospitality is hiring a Sushi Cook to maintain and execute our sushi program in person in New Jersey. You will collaborate with culinary and management teams to ensure consistent excellence in quality, execution, and presentation.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of sushi chef or cook experience, superb knife skills, and a strong understanding of Japanese ingredients and seasonality. ServSafe certification is preferred, and you will work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as a sushi chef or cook.
• Exceptional knife skills and mastery of maki, nigiri, and sashimi.
• Deep understanding of Japanese ingredients, seasonality, and culinary traditions.
• Ability to thrive under pressure in a high-volume environment.
• Commitment to highest food safety and hygiene standards.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills.
• Up-to-date ServSafe certification (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

• Prepare a variety of sushi dishes, including Nigiri, Sashimi, and various rolls.
• Ensure all prepared dishes meet high quality and visual standards.
• Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to maintain smooth workflow.
• Efficiently manage multiple dishes while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards of the sushi station.
