Job summary

YWCA Northeast Kansas is seeking a Court Advocate to support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking. Reporting to the Rural Project Manager, you will provide survivor-centered advocacy, navigate civil/criminal systems, and coordinate services to reduce barriers to safety and justice.

The role requires crisis sensitivity, confidentiality, and trauma-informed care, with travel across the multi-county rural service area.

Qualifications

• Degree in Social Work, Public Health, or related field.
• Experience may substitute for formal education.
• Understanding of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, and human trafficking.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel within service areas.
• Excellent communication and crisis engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and advocacy.
• Assist with Protection From Abuse/Protection From Stalking filings and educate on legal processes.
• Attend criminal, civil, and protection order dockets to support clients.
• Explain court processes and accompany clients to hearings.
• Maintain client caseload with ongoing advocacy and coordination.
