JMT in Harrisburg, PA, is seeking a Field Survey Assistant to support field crews within the Geomatics/Survey department. The role focuses on learning to operate survey equipment and assisting crew leaders on daily tasks in a hands-on environment.

The position is field-heavy (about 95% in outdoor conditions), with hours 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday–Friday. Travel up to 40% may be required; immigration sponsorship is not available except TN visa eligibility. Compensation ranges per description.

Formación

About Us

JMT’s Geomatics/Survey department offers an exciting work environment that leverages modern technology (terrestrial/mobile/aerial LiDAR, Drones, robotics, bathymetry, etc.), balanced with sound traditional survey procedures to deliver projects.

Position Summary

Assist field crew leaders in performing day-to-day field work.

Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

• Learn to operate survey and SUE equipment


• Assist crew leaders in the performance of daily tasks

Compensation for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hour, commensurate with experience, education and certifications. The provided range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described within the job description. Required Skills

• Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening


• Valid Driver’s License Required


• Able to pass Background Check


• Able to work 7:00 am - 4:00 pm Monday - Friday (Minimum)


• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions


• Able to bend, kneel, lift and carry up to 50 lbs as needed

• Ability to travel required

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge in field surveying techniques, including data collection, traverse establishment, GNSS surveys, and construction stakeouts

Working Conditions

Field work is required 95% of the time, where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Out of town travel is possible up to 40% of the time. Some lifting (up to 50 lbs) may be required as needed.
