Job description

Company Description

Timmons Group is currently seeking a Survey Technician/Senior Survey Technician to join our Survey Group located in our Raleigh, NC office. The Survey Technician assists in applying principles, methods, and techniques of land surveying by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Drafting subdivision plats, boundary surveys, and easement plats
  • Preparing parcel descriptions
  • Preparing staking maps for subdivisions, infrastructure improvements, and site plans
  • Preparing cutsheets and construction take-offs
  • Drafting topographical surveys and creating digital terrain models
  • Performing limited courthouse research
  • Submitting plats for jurisdictional approval
  • Working closely with the project manager and group leader
  • Substituting in the field when necessary
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Skills/Requirements include but are not limited to:

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Geography, Geospatial Information Sciences, or a related field, or a minimum of three years of progressive survey field experience
  • Experience with GPS and 3D laser scanning is a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as safety rules, scope of services, project budgets, jurisdictional platting & submittal requirements, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to read deed descriptions, title reports, zoning reports, survey plats, DOT plans, engineering drawings, and aerial topographic mapping
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as trigonometry and geometry
